Shawn Benjamin, Senior Associate, Associate AIA, LEED AP

Shawn is an Arizona native, but has lived in Utah most of his life.  He and his family have lived in Draper for the last 10 years where they enjoy a variety of activities and community involvement.

Shawn has always enjoyed the opportunity for artistic expression and planned to pursue graphic design as an early career choice.  He fell in love with architecture early on, however, and saw the opportunity to converge his love of design and the built environment. Shawn completed both a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Utah. He then began working with the Salt Lake office of nationally recognized Gould Evans & Associates.  During his time there, he worked on several projects for higher education classroom and performing arts facilities working with the leaders and principals of Method Studio for several years. From 2006 to mid-2012, Shawn was a partner at Architectural Coalition, taking on larger scale projects such as the expansive (350,000+ sq. ft.) Zermatt Resort & Conference Center in Midway, Utah. He also worked on several municipal and private sector projects including several charter and private schools. He has been back with Method Studio now for over a year managing a variety of Higher Education projects.

Shawn participates in a number of community and professional organizations including being the current Chair of the Draper City Mayor’s Youth Council Advisory Board, Vice Chair of the College of Architecture +Planning Alumni Alliance Executive Board as well as being an Associate member of AIA and a  LEED Accredited Professional since 2009.

Shawn’s strengths lie in design, project management and construction administration. Shawn sees architecture as an opportunity to enhance the cultural experience. He sees the architectural design process as an effective tool in addressing societal morphologies and adheres to the idea that architecture is and should be ‘the thoughtful making of place and space.’
