Melinda McMillan, AIA, Assoc. ASLA

Melinda was raised locally and has recently returned after completing her design education on both coasts.  With work in master planning, healthcare, hospitality, religious buildings, product development, and sustainable design, she tries to exploit her education and experience as much as possible.  Having received a bachelor’s in Architecture from Portland State University, Melinda finished her education at the University of Pennsylvania with master’s degrees in both Architecture and Landscape Architecture & Regional Planning.  She is currently in the process of licensing as both a Landscape Architect and Architect.

The passion for intelligent urbanism, sustainable communities, public art, and rich architectural experience was fostered by extensive travel and by living downtown in both Philadelphia and Portland. Happily, her two teens adopted this attitude, too, largely by being dragged through cities and museums around the world for most their childhood.  Their current suburban situation is made livable by nurturing a large pet menagerie, working on a mod chicken coop, and making the house a  gallery for odd art work. They’ve also found that painting birds on white vinyl fences make them less aesthetically offensive and allow the creator to fancy themselves a character from Portlandia.
