Scott Smith, AIA, LEED A.P.

As an Architect, Scott has had many creative influences that have led him on his career path. Music has been a fundamental staple in Scott’s life.  Scott started playing the piano when he was a child, then began playing percussion instruments starting in the 6th grade.  Scott began college as a music major receiving musical scholarships and playing in various bands and orchestras, including a steel drum band. Music continues to influence his life and creativity providing inspiration in every aspect including architecture.  His architectural thesis was based around music and modern dance.

Scott spent a semester in Mexico studying architecture, ancient and modern and was able to hone sketching and drawing skills contributing to his belief in the principle of sense of place in architecture.  He brings a Masters Degree in Architecture and a Bachelors Degree in Environmental  Design from Montana State University.  He has had the opportunity to work on a variety of award winning projects, is LEED accredited and NCARB certified.

Scott enjoys the outdoors and loves to camp, hike and spend time with his wife and 4 children. Scott loves to snowboard and goes whenever time and money allow.  Living and schooling in Montana and working in the Northwest have increased his appreciation for nature and “sense of place”, where architecture is influenced by its environment and can grow and develop from its surroundings.
