D. Scott Thomas

Scott started his path into architecture and drafting at an early age; middle school to be exact. Scott’s first job with an AE firm as a junior in high school. While all his friends were serving burgers or bagging groceries Scott was drafting construction documents.

Over the years Scott’s skills improved and he studied design and architecture in college. Progressively Scott felt the call of pencil and paper was just too great to ignore and he began producing drawings full time in areas such as mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, theatre design, fine custom woodworking, and the list goes on.

Scott is self-taught in AutoCad and Revit. After 20+ years in industry Scott was given the chance to teach drafting at the high school level and was able to enjoy 12 years of teaching before cutbacks forced his retirement and he returned to the professional industry. He still enjoys the chance to teach night classes at the local community college, yet he has really enjoyed his return to the industry.

Scott enjoys going to many events with his wife and kids. He watches his daughters in their dance concerts with the drill team, and attends his sons baseball games; all the stuff that a family of active kids comes with. Scott is a Utah native and enjoys the outdoor life-style and scenery. He loves camping, fishing, and cycling. With 3 teenage daughters and a son he does not get an opportunity to do any of those things very often but he’ll jump on the chance whenever possible.
