Elevations at Canyons Village

Method Studio has been retained to provide design and construction administration services for this high-end condominium development in the mountain resort area of Park City, currently in the early design-development phase. The project comprises 12 luxury units consisting of three unit types that range from 2,100 to 3,000 square feet. Construction is slated to be completed around April of 2019. The owners desired designers well versed in high-altitude, harsh climate mountain architecture featuring timber and stone design elements, as well as familiarity with how to solve steeply sloped site challenges. The need to secure approvals through the County’s Special Planned Area design review committee was an additional factor.

The Elevations project design includes a number of unique features. Each unit has its own elevator, there are no doors on the street side, and no street parking, because the project fronts a resort snow removal area—the key driver in the structured parking area below grade, which also includes visitor parking. The design solution includes a public elevator which offers visitors a wonderful arrival experience. They disembark from the elevator into a pedestrian walkway “outdoor living-room” with an attractive timber-framed canopy, and amazing mountain views. This commons area features a fireplace, furniture, and provides residents with a seasonal clubroom that accesses attractive landscape elements in harmony with the setting. The desire to maximize views required creative building siting, but well worth the effort, since the lovely mountain setting is fully on display. The highly desirable residential project includes two 2-story structures and one 3-story structure.
