Ballet West + West Valley City Academy

Method Studio led a robust community outreach effort in conjunction with Ballet West to introduce ballet to the West Valley City community while simultaneously identifying an ideal site for a new academy building and black box presentation space. We canvassed the community through numerous in-person interviews at several community sites, engaged many community leaders at city and county levels, connected with several arts groups, and led an expansive bilingual social media effort that garnered over 300 respondents to a custom-tailored outreach questionnaire. The results provided invaluable data for Ballet West to narrow down an ideal locale while offering key insights into programmatic features. Arts opportunities have long underserved West Valley City compared to other Salt Lake Valley communities, particularly in access to ballet training and education. The core mission of this project is to address diversity, inclusion, and opportunities. Method Studio has played a key role in this mission, facilitating dialogue between communities and the ballet.
