Orem Community Recreation Center

For 40 years, the City of Orem has operated a full service Fitness Center that includes a 50-meter competitive pool, hot tub, steam room, leisure pool, cardio and aerobic area, indoor track, two gymnasiums, child care, racquetball courts, gender specific locker rooms, bathrooms and sauna, and a firearms range, with several updates along the way as budget permitted. As family recreation preferences have evolved and Orem has grown, the need for a more comprehensive remodel has become urgent. To best address Orem’s desire for a facility that enhanced residents’ quality of life, Orem selected Method Studio to re-imagine this essential community amenity—on a challenging schedule and budget. It was important to Orem that as many desired features as possible to fulfill the community’s long wish list be included in the remodel. The design solution includes enhancements to health and safety, aquatic amenities, family-friendly features such as enhanced childcare spaces, climbing wall, indoor playground, community meeting spaces, and more. The remodel is energy efficient, aesthetically pleasing inside and out, and easier to operate and maintain.
