Salt Lake County – Miller Arts Center

salt lake co. - miller arts center

The Miller Arts Center is designed to serve as a vibrant cornerstone within a new entertainment district in the western part of Salt Lake County. The facility will act as the Southwest Valley Arts Center, supporting the county’s goal of creating a community arts hub in each of the valley’s four quadrants. Located on a 3.5-acre site provided by the Larry H. Miller Group, the center will sit adjacent to the new Daybreak Library, also owned by Salt Lake County, and is at the heart of a mixed-use development that includes a minor-league baseball stadium, restaurants, shopping, and residential spaces.

The building is strategically positioned to activate its street frontages along Lake Ave, Grandville Ave, and Festival Street. The main entry lobby will be located at the corner of Lake Ave and Festival Street, offering ample seating and plaza space that connects to The Ramble, a pedestrian plaza running along Lake Ave, and serves as a venue for outdoor community events. Architecturally, a dynamic folded façade envelops the building’s primary program spaces, which include an 800-seat proscenium theater with a fly tower, a 100-seat rehearsal/studio theater, a 100-person event/rehearsal hall, a visual arts gallery, classrooms for visual arts instruction, and essential back-of-house areas to support simultaneous events across the various spaces.

The facility is designed to be a multi-functional space that will serve as a cultural hub for the community, with a diverse range of events and programs, and provide the Southwest Valley with a premier arts destination.
