USU BOTANICAL GARDEN

UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY Botanical garden iclt building

The ICLT Building or the Orangerie is constructed using Interlocking Cross-Laminated Timber (ICLT) panels. These panels are an innovative take on mass timber construction which contains about 1/3 embodied energy of other standardized construction materials.

The timber used in this construction comes from Beetle-killed trees from Summit County and the surrounding area. The use of these trees creates a sustainable mindset to use timber that died naturally rather than cut down living trees to construct a building.
