Vista School PA

The Vista School is an Arts and Technology based  charter school in Ivins, Utah for students in the first through ninth grades. The expansion has many unique spaces including a large 500 set proscenium theater, robotics maker-space, dance studio, choral ensemble, instrument ensemble and science labs. Located directly adjacent to the existing building, the expansion places the grand proscenium theater at the heart of the school. The exterior is clad in concrete tilt-up panels that are colored to reflect the surrounding lava rock and desert landscape. The large glazed lobby is placed along the north elevation to capture the stunning mountain views to the north while minimizing heat gain.  The massing relates to the existing building while the playful window arrangement and wall patterning remind the viewer that this is a school based in creativity and expression.
